Understanding why Republicans prioritized China then helps explain why they’re prioritizing it now. Many of America’s most influential Asia Firsters — like the Time magazine publisher Henry Luce — were either the children of American missionaries in China or had served as missionaries there themselves. The John Birch Society, whose fervent and conspiratorial brand of anti-Communism foreshadowed the right-wing populism of today, took its name from an Army captain and former missionary killed by Chinese communists at the end of World War II. July 21 (Reuters) - Shares in Sirius XM Holdings (SIRI.O) were down 10.5% on Friday, erasing some of their dramatic gains in the previous day's session with analysts attributing the volatility to a short squeeze, as well as a rebalance of the Nasdaq 100 (.NDX). U.S. satellite and online radio company, Sirius XM, which is majority owned by Liberty Media (FWONA.O), last traded at $6.99 after closing up 42% at $7.81 on Thursday for its biggest one-day percentage gain since March 2009. A short squeeze is when these investors are forced to quickly cover their bets to limit losses if a stock gains ground instead of falling. "However, the large number of shares held short along with a relatively small float provided fertile ground for a short squeeze as seen on July 20," wrote Macker who estimates a $7.50 fair value for the stock. Evercore analyst Vijay Jayant said the upcoming rebalance of the Nasdaq 100, of which Sirius is a member, was also a factor for the short squeeze as well as related options trading.

That’s why when Wagner forces started withdrawing from Ukraine last month, many feared the same might happen in Africa. And who can guarantee Wagner forces won’t turn on African leaders who decide to side with Putin? “Don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere.”It’s not as if Russia could repatriate and replace Wagner forces with verifiably loyal Russian troops — even if it wanted to. And quite frankly, Africa will only emerge better-off if democratic governments emerge after Wagner forces are shown the door.

The report, by Drexel's Autism Institute, looked at the intersection of poverty, race, and health outcomes for autistic youth. Children with autism from middle-income households, or households at 200% to 399% of the federal poverty line, actually had the worst health outcomes out of all income classes. The first, Dr. Anderson pointed out, was that middle-income households are less likely to be eligible for Medicaid. While some states offer waivers for kids with autism from middle-income households, it's far from a universal practice.

Overall, twin births did not rise significantly in 2021 from 2020 levels, although rates began to increase near the end of the year. The largest decline in twin births was seen in women over age 40, the group most likely to use infertility treatment. The smallest decline was in women under age 30, who are least likely to use infertility treatment, the authors said. The study cannot prove pandemic lockdowns caused twin births to decline.
